Pune : Disturbing footage has emerged from Vaikunth Crematorium in Navi Peth, Pune, showing stray dogs feeding on partially burned human remains. The incident came to light when an individual attending a friend’s ash collection ritual witnessed the unsettling scene and captured it on video.
Despite the clear evidence, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials have dismissed the claims. Authorities stated, “The dogs were feeding on coconut and pav, not human remains. The complaint is baseless.” This assertion was made without an on-site investigation.
Social activist Abhijeet Baravkar has filed a formal complaint against Nikita Boilers, the contractor responsible for operations at the crematorium. Baravkar emphasized the contractor’s duty to ensure complete cremation and prevent such distressing occurrences. He expressed concerns about public safety, noting that if dogs develop a taste for human flesh, they might pose a threat to visitors.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding immediate action to address the negligence and prevent future occurrences.
