Pune: In a new development in the violent clash that occurred at Taljai Maidan near Lunkad School in Padmavati on Tuesday (July 15) morning, the Sahakarnagar Police have now registered an attempt to murder case against the director of a fitness academy and several of its male and female students. This follows a prior case filed against a group of wrestlers under charges of attempted murder and under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to the complaint filed by Amar Sable (age 22, currently residing at Vadgaon Budruk, originally from Jeur, Karmala Taluka, Solapur), the police have booked Vikas Matkari, Mujim Pathan, and several students (both male and female) of Pune Fitness Academy.
As per the police, Amar Sable currently resides at the Hanuman Akhada Wrestling Complex in Vadgaon. On Tuesday morning around 7:30 a.m., he was working out at Taljai Maidan along with his friends Omkar Dagade, Shrinivas Patharud, and Nilesh Kedari. During the workout, Vikas Matkari allegedly pushed Dagade. When Amar questioned Matkari about this, Matkari, Pathan, and other students verbally abused Amar and assaulted him with kicks and punches.
Matkari allegedly threatened to kill Sable and kicked him in the chest while he lay on the ground. Pathan reportedly kicked him multiple times in the groin area. When Matkari attempted to strike Sable on the head, Sable blocked the blow with his left hand, causing an injury. Sable later sought medical treatment and then approached Sahakarnagar Police Station to lodge a formal complaint.
Both the complainant and the accused are reportedly absconding, and police teams are actively searching for them. Notably, both parties have filed cases against each other, and the matter is under detailed investigation.
Sub-Inspector Yash Borate is leading the ongoing inquiry into the incident.
