Pune: Hinjawadi police have registered a case against a 33-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 31-year-old woman multiple times and using a compromising video to threaten her. The complaint was lodged by the victim on Friday.
According to police reports, the accused allegedly invited the woman to a hotel in Hinjawadi on December 2, 2022, under the pretense of celebrating her birthday. He is accused of sexually assaulting her and secretly recording the incident. The video was then used as blackmail to coerce the woman into further abuse over time.
When the victim became pregnant, the accused reportedly took her to Powai Naka in Satara for sonography and an abortion. Between January 25 and January 31, 2025, the accused allegedly entered the woman’s home and assaulted her multiple times. When she resisted, he physically attacked her, kicking her and beating her with a stick.
In addition to the physical violence, the accused is said to have taken away a gold chain weighing approximately one and a half tola.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation has been launched, and the case is being handled with urgency. Further details will be revealed as the probe progresses.
