Pune: In a heart-wrenching incident in Dahitne village, Daund Taluka of Pune district, an 11-month-old baby named Anvit Bhise was reportedly taken by a leopard early Wednesday morning. The child’s body was discovered in a nearby field after an extensive 18-hour search involving the Forest Department, local residents, and police authorities.
This event has intensified concerns over human-wildlife conflicts in the region. In a separate case from March, the death of 50-year-old Latabai Baban Dhawade in Kadethan village, initially attributed to a leopard attack, was later revealed to be a premeditated murder. Investigations led to the arrest of her husband’s nephew, who allegedly staged the scene to mimic a leopard mauling.
The increasing frequency of such incidents underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and awareness programs in areas prone to wildlife encounters.
