Pune:
A fatal accident on the Nhavara-Talegaon road near Nhavara, Shirur, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a father and daughter, while one woman sustained critical injuries. The incident took place around 8:30 PM on Sunday (March 23).
The deceased have been identified as Kailash Krishnaji Gajkwad (49) and his daughter Gauri Kailash Gajkwad (20) from Nimbalakar Wasti, Nhavara, Shirur Taluka, Pune district, along with Ganesh Mahadev Nirlakar (25) from Kokanagav, Shrigonda Taluka, Ahilyanagar district. Durga Kailash Gajkwad (48), who suffered severe injuries, is receiving medical treatment.
According to police reports, Kailash Gajkwad was driving home to Nhavara from Wagholi with his wife, daughter, and brother-in-law when a container truck, approaching from the opposite direction, crashed into their car near Sandip Sarake’s house. The impact was devastating, causing the immediate deaths of Kailash, Gauri, and Ganesh, while Durga was critically injured.
The truck driver fled the scene following the accident. A case has been registered based on a complaint by Ravindra Mahadev Sonawane (38), a resident of Nhavara. The investigation is being overseen by Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale, with Police Constable Bote handling the inquiry.
