Pune: State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has taken a strong stance on the roads and water supply issues in Kothrud. During a meeting today, he directed officials to prepare a report based on the current and ideal situations. He also assured that a meeting with the Municipal Commissioner would be held next week to resolve these issues.

A meeting regarding roads, water supply, and traffic congestion in Kothrud was held at Minister Patil’s residence. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation’s Property Department Mahesh Patil, Water Supply Department’s Nandkumar Jagtap, Building Department’s Yuvraj Deshmukh, Special Officer of Revenue Department Rajendra Muthe, and Vilas Bhalerao. Along with them, BJP Kothrud South Mandal President Dr. Sandeep Butala, Pune City General Secretary Puneet Joshi, Ganesh Kalamkar, former corporator Deepak Pote, and other dignitaries were present.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Patil reviewed the challenges in water supply across Kothrud. Given the summer season, he emphasized the need for an equal distribution of water in both residential colonies and housing societies. Officials pointed out that many areas in Kothrud are located on elevated terrain, causing limitations in water supply during summer. They specifically highlighted that Sutardara, Kishkindha Nagar, and Kelewadi were severely affected. As a solution, Minister Patil suggested installing water tanks at the beginning of these settlements, with the Municipal Corporation ensuring their water supply.

The meeting also addressed road development in Kothrud. Officials from the Road Department pointed out that a resident had taken legal action regarding the DP Road in front of Paranjape School, causing obstructions in traffic movement. Minister Patil instructed the Municipal Corporation to strongly present its case in court, as the road is crucial for public convenience.

Additionally, concerns were raised about the 15-meter road near Eklavya College along the Chandni Chowk highway, which remains pending. Minister Patil expressed displeasure over the delay and instructed officials to remove encroachments in the area and ensure completion of road construction within a fixed timeframe.
Residents of Baner-Balewadi have been consistently demanding a theater for performing arts. Similarly, Kothrud locals and art enthusiasts have been requesting a dedicated cultural complex for classical dance and other artistic performances. Minister Patil directed officials to conduct a detailed study on land availability, estimated costs, and other requirements for setting up such theaters and cultural complexes.

Along with these primary issues, Minister Patil instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive report based on the current and ideal situations of various problems in the constituency. He assured that a follow-up meeting with the Municipal Commissioner would be held soon to find effective solutions.
