Pune: A 30-year-old woman from Dangat Nagar Shivane, Pune, was recently defrauded of Rs 7,72,692 in a work-from-home scam. The woman, identified as Mrunal Ghodeswar, received a mobile call from an unknown individual claiming to offer a part-time online job that would help her earn extra profit. Trusting the offer, she transferred the money to various bank accounts provided by the scammer.
The police report reveals that the scammer convinced Mrunal to transfer the substantial amount, claiming it was necessary to complete an online task. After making the payments, she attempted to contact the person again, only to find that all the provided phone numbers had been switched off, leading her to realize she had fallen victim to a financial fraud.
Mrunal filed a complaint at the Warje Malwadi Police Station, which has registered a case against the unknown individuals involved. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the perpetrators behind the scam.
