Pune: A young man travelling to Kolhapur was assaulted and robbed by four individuals late Friday night (May 30) around midnight on the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass. A case has been registered at Sinhagad Road Police Station.
The complaint was filed by Swarup Arun Kadam (25), a resident of Narhe, at the Sinhagad Road Police Station. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered against four unidentified robbers.
According to police, the youth was waiting at a private transport pick-up point on the bypass around midnight to head to Kolhapur. At that time, four men arrived in a car and told him they would drop him to Kolhapur. Trusting them, the youth got into the car. The robbers then drove toward Khed Shivapur via the bypass.
During the journey, the accused assaulted him with punches, kicks, and even with the metal grip of a weapon. They looted ₹2,000 in cash, a mobile phone, gold earrings, and a silver ring — valuables worth ₹35,000. After the robbery, they abandoned the youth near Sasewadi and fled in the vehicle. Police have launched a search for the culprits, and Assistant Police Inspector Nikam is leading the investigation.
