Pune : A tense love dispute in Pune’s Hadapsar area took a dramatic turn when a 45-year-old man was abducted from his home on February 3, 2025. The incident occurred after a teenage girl linked to his son went missing, sparking retaliation from her family. The police rescued the victim within 12 hours and arrested three suspects, while one remains absconding .
The boy from Hadapsar and the girl from Wagholi had been in a relationship opposed by her family. After the girl went missing on February 3, her relatives suspected the boy’s involvement. They confronted his family at their home, leading to a heated argument. Later that night, around 11 PM, the girl’s relatives and accomplices returned, forcibly abducted the boy’s father, and fled on a motorcycle .
The victim’s wife immediately alerted the Hadapsar Police Control Room. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde led a swift operation, deploying teams to comb areas like Wagholi, Kesnand, and Wadebolhai. A tip-off revealed the kidnappers were heading toward Barshi in Solapur district. Police intercepted them at the Patas Toll Plaza on the Pune-Solapur Highway, rescuing the father unharmed and arresting three suspects: Abhijit Bhosale (22), *Ranjit Dikole (21), and Maruti Gaikwad (23)*. A fourth suspect, Sagar Khurangale, is still at large .
The police registered a case under IPC sections for kidnapping and wrongful confinement. Authorities are also investigating the girl’s disappearance, which remains unresolved. The boy’s family claims no prior enmity but highlighted ongoing tensions over the relationship .
