Pune: Pune Airport has rolled out an advanced Smart Visual Docking Guidance System (SVDGS) designed to optimize aircraft parking procedures. This cutting-edge system eliminates the need for manual marshalling, offering faster, safer, and more efficient operations.
Utilizing sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence (AI), the SVDGS provides real-time guidance to pilots, directing them precisely to their designated parking bays. Integrated with the airport’s automated operation control center, the system reduces the risk of accidents and enhances the use of available parking spaces.
With 10 parking bays and 10 aerobridges in place, the introduction of SVDGS allows pilots to park their aircraft without the assistance of ground marshals. Instead, they receive direct instructions to park and connect to aerobridges, improving operational speed and passenger experience.
While the system is already in use at several major airports across India, Pune Airport marks the first in the city to implement this technology. The SVDGS aims to streamline airport operations, reduce waiting times, and boost aircraft turnaround efficiency. This technological advancement is a significant step toward modernizing Pune Airport and ensuring a smoother experience for both airlines and travelers.
With the Smart Visual Docking System now in place, Pune Airport sets a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, and passenger satisfaction in aviation.
