Pune: A large tree collapsed in the Phadke Haud area due to ongoing roadwork, causing significant traffic congestion. The roots of the tree were exposed as the road was dug up for construction, leading to its fall.
The incident resulted in severe traffic disruption, leaving commuters stranded for a long time. Environmentalists have raised concerns over the lack of precautionary measures while carrying out development work. They have demanded that the municipal corporation ensure the protection of roadside trees and take strict action against negligent contractors.
Meanwhile, officials from the municipal garden department visited the site and initiated the process of clearing the fallen tree. Residents have urged the authorities to implement better preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
