Pune: The State Transport Department has announced that all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, must have High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) installed by March 31, 2025. Currently, over 25 lakh vehicles are registered in Pune before 2019, but only 2,500 owners have replaced their old plates with the mandatory HSRP. This highlights a slow pace of compliance with the new regulation.
HSRP installation is mandatory for vehicles manufactured up to 2018, following a Supreme Court ruling. Despite the deadline, many vehicle owners remain unaware of the requirement. For Pune’s vehicle owners, vehicles with the MH 12 registration number fall under Zone One, and 69 centers have been established in the city to facilitate the installation process.
Vehicle owners need to register online at https://mhhsrp.com for a slot, with appointments available two days in advance. Rosmarta Safety System Ltd. has been assigned the responsibility for installing HSRP in Pune. As of now, 9,500 applications have been submitted, with 2,500 successful installations completed since the process began on January 25.
