Pune: In a startling incident at the Regional Mental Hospital (RMH) in Yerawada, two cooks were caught intoxicated while preparing food for patients on the night of February 13. Authorities have initiated the process to suspend them.
The two cooks, identified as Kailash Borage (57) and Sandip Jambhulkar (40), were responsible for preparing breakfast at night for over 1,000 patients. Breakfast is served at 7 am, requiring cooks to work through the night. Concerned about potential risks, Dr. Kolod remarked, “What if they mishandle gas cylinders or make a mistake in food preparation? The lives of all patients would be at stake.”
Blood samples of the accused have been sent for forensic analysis. Their reports, along with investigation findings, have been submitted to Radhakishan Pawar, Deputy Director of Health Services, Pune. Dr. Kolod expects official suspension orders to be received within the next few days.
