Pune: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has issued a warning to passengers regarding a counterfeit version of its official mobile application, Apli PMPML. Reports suggest that fraudulent advertisements promoting the fake app are circulating across various social media platforms, including YouTube, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram.
According to PMPML authorities, dishonest individuals are misleading passengers by falsely claiming that the fake app provides free travel passes without any payment. The purpose of this deceptive app is to trick users into downloading it, potentially leading to financial fraud.
In response, PMPML has filed a complaint with the Cyber Security Cell of the police department, targeting the individuals responsible for creating and distributing the fake app. Legal actions will be pursued against those involved, in accordance with the IT Act.
A dedicated team from PMPML’s technical department, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Cell, is actively tracking suspicious activities on social media to identify the culprits. The public has been urged to refrain from downloading any unofficial applications linked to PMPML services.
PMPML has also warned that anyone found using the counterfeit app may face legal consequences. Commuters are advised to use only the official “Apli PMPML” app for their travel needs to avoid financial losses and ensure a secure experience.
Passengers are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to the fake app to the authorities. PMPML reassures the public that it is taking all necessary measures to protect their interests.
