Pune: The mercury has soared past 40°C in Pune and several parts of the district, marking one of the hottest days this season. According to reports, Rajgurunagar in Pune district recorded the highest temperature at 40°C, while Koregaon Park in the city also reported the same temperature.
Meanwhile, Akola recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41.3°C, marking the first time this summer that Vidarbha’s temperature has crossed 41°C.
The Pune Meteorological Department has predicted that maximum temperatures in the city and district may reach up to 41°C by the third week of March. Authorities have issued an advisory urging residents to take necessary precautions against the rising heat.
In Mumbai, minimum temperatures have risen slightly, but maximum temperatures have remained stable over the past couple of days. However, the city is expected to experience warm and humid weather in the coming days, which may lead to discomfort. On Friday, the Colaba weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 33°C, while the Santacruz station reported 34.5°C.
