Pune: In a shocking incident, a highly educated father brutally murdered his three-and-a-half-year-old son by slitting his throat with a knife. The horrifying crime took place in the Chandan Nagar area of Pune. The accused has been arrested by the police.
The deceased child has been identified as Himmat Madhav Tiketi (3 years and 4 months), a resident of Tukaram Nagar, Chandan Nagar. His father, Madhav Sadhurao Tiketi (36), has been taken into custody. The child’s mother, Swaroopa, has lodged a complaint against him.
According to police reports, both Madhav and his wife are highly educated. They have an eight-year-old daughter and the deceased son. Madhav was employed at a company but was recently fired. He had also developed a habit of excessive alcohol consumption and frequently suspected his wife’s character, leading to constant disputes.
On Thursday morning, Madhav had another heated argument with his wife. The commotion woke up their son, Himmat. Around 12:30 PM, as Madhav was leaving the house, the child followed him. The accused then took Himmat along on his two-wheeler, roaming around the Kharadi area. During this time, he consumed alcohol and purchased a sharp knife from a shop. Later, he took the child to a deserted spot near Forest Park in front of Kharadi Dargah, where he mercilessly slit his throat.
After abandoning the child’s body at the spot, Madhav went to a lodge in Vadgaon Sheri and fell asleep. By 9 PM, when both the father and son had not returned home, the worried mother filed a complaint at the Chandan Nagar police station.
Police launched an investigation using CCTV footage and technical analysis. Due to his excessive alcohol intake, the accused was initially unable to recall the child’s whereabouts. However, after intense questioning on Friday, he confessed to the murder.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav confirmed the details of the case, stating that further investigation is ongoing.
