Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has sparked controversy with a recently posted video in which he sings a satirical song mocking Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In the song, Kamra refers to Shinde as a “traitor,” leading to outrage among Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) supporters. In response, party workers vandalized the set of Kamra’s show.
The incident took place at the Uni-Continental Hotel in Khar, where the show was being staged. Additionally, Shinde faction MLA Murji Patel has filed a complaint against Kunal Kamra at the Andheri MIDC police station.
In the viral video, Kamra remarks:
“In the Maharashtra elections, what they did must be spoken about. First, Shiv Sena left the BJP, then Shiv Sena left Shiv Sena, then NCP left NCP. A voter got nine buttons to press, leaving everyone confused. It all started with one man from a great district in Mumbai—Thane.”
He then begins his song, set to the tune of “Bholi Si Surat”, a song from the Bollywood movie Dil To Pagal Hai, singing:
“Meri nazar se tum dekho, toh gaddar nazar woh aaye” (If you see through my eyes, he looks like a traitor).”
The video has gone viral on social media and was also shared by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
