Pune : Bharatiya Janata Party’s Maharashtra president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, launched a scathing attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his party members, saying, “They are too small to understand Prime Minister Modi. It will take time for Uddhav Thackeray and his flock to comprehend him.”

The remarks came in response to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s criticism of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Raut had alleged that instead of taking firm action against Pakistan, PM Modi was busy attending public events and engaging in light-hearted banter.

Speaking to reporters in Pune, Bawankule dismissed Raut’s comments, saying, “Sanjay Raut only knows how to provoke. His statements are often divisive. People like him are insignificant. Prime Minister Modi will not rest until he ensures national security by taking firm action against Pakistan and Naxalites.”

He added that Raut’s remarks are aimed at disturbing social harmony and should not be given undue importance. “The PM takes the right decisions at the right time. His leadership ensures the safety of 140 crore Indians,” he said.

Bawankule also took a jibe at Raut for echoing Congress sentiments, saying, “He has become Congress-minded now. He speaks their language and has mentally accepted their constitution.”

On another note, when asked about Minister Sanjay Shirsat’s strong reaction to Finance Minister Ajit Pawar over diversion of funds from the Social Welfare Department meant for the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’, Bawankule responded, “The scheme benefits all communities—SCs, STs, and tribal sisters alike. If every department contributes its share, there’s nothing wrong with that. Once a collective decision is made, it becomes binding on everyone.”
