Pune: The Pune Traffic Police Academy, an innovative project initiated by the Hon. Commissioner of Police, Pune City, has wrapped up its first-ever training program designed to upgrade the skills of the city’s traffic personnel. Conducted under the supervision of the Joint Commissioner of Police and the Additional Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Regional Division, the intensive training spanned 18 sessions held from February 23 to May 10, 2025.

A total of 63 officers along with 1,045 traffic branch staff participated in the program, which ran daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The curriculum covered a broad range of essential topics, including soft skills development, psychotherapy, Motor Vehicle Act provisions, management of VVIP convoys and Green Corridors, effective public interaction, CPR and first aid techniques, and the use of traffic e-challan systems.

The sessions were led by a distinguished panel of trainers such as Mr. Manoj Patil, Mr. Suresh Gokhale, Mrs. Medha Kadam, Mr. Anil Pantoji (RTO), and Dr. Shyam Gaikwad from Jehangir Hospital. The training also benefited from the involvement of industry and community leaders like Ashwini Malhotra (CEO, Weikfield Foods Pvt. Ltd.), Ajay Aggarwal (Director, Top Management Consortium Foundation), Manjiri Gokhale (Elephant Connect), and Shrikant Patil (Director, TMCF).

Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil provided key perspectives on traffic law enforcement and the relationship between police and the public. The initiative was coordinated by DCP (Transport) Amol Zende and supported by officers Mahesh Bolkotgi, Runal Mulla, Chandrakant Raghatwan, Devidas Patil, Malhari Khadtare, and Ashwini Sarab from the RSP Team.
Certificates were awarded to all participants after successfully completing the training. Looking ahead, the academy plans to broaden its offerings by introducing technical modules and programs aimed at improving communication between the traffic police and the community.
