Pune: A case of online financial fraud has been reported where a man was deceived of ₹26 lakh under the guise of lucrative returns from share market investments. The victim, Krinal Mangal Mahurkar (43) from Lohegaon, has filed a complaint at Vimantal Police Station, resulting in the registration of a case against the admin of a WhatsApp group.

According to the police, the accused, who claimed to be a broker for a share trading company, lured Mahurkar into downloading a trading app. The accused instructed him to invest in shares through the app. Initially, Mahurkar received minor profits, which built his trust in the scheme. However, over time, the accused continued to pressure Mahurkar to invest more money, offering various reasons for further investments.

Despite the increasing investments, Mahurkar did not receive the promised returns, nor did the accused return his principal amount. The total amount defrauded from Mahurkar was ₹25.95 lakh. After realizing he had been scammed, Mahurkar approached Vimantal Police and lodged a formal complaint.

Police Inspector Khapare is currently investigating the case, with the authorities working to identify the accused and bring them to justice. The case highlights the growing prevalence of online financial frauds, especially those involving fake share trading schemes.
