Maharashtra: State continues to witness erratic weather patterns, with isolated rainfall offering brief relief in some areas, while many regions grapple with persistent heat and discomfort. Over the past 24 hours, scattered showers were reported in select districts, but high humidity and soaring temperatures continue to make daily life challenging for residents.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada. Residents in these regions are advised to remain cautious as weather systems may trigger stormy conditions.

In Mumbai and its surrounding areas, a short spell of rain gave way to increased heat and muggy weather, despite the presence of dense cloud cover. The IMD has forecast that while overcast skies may persist for the next 24 hours, there is little expectation of significant rainfall during this period.

According to meteorologists, a low-pressure trough stretching from the Arabian Sea to Tamil Nadu via North Maharashtra and Karnataka is contributing to the current weather instability. This system is likely to influence the state’s weather further in the coming days as pre-monsoon activity intensifies.

Day and night temperatures have shown variation across the state, reflecting the transitional nature of the season:
Dhule: 34.0°C (Max) / 19.6°C (Min)

Kolhapur: 34.1°C / 22.8°C

Mahabaleshwar: 24.5°C / 16.4°C

Malegaon: 35.6°C / 21.5°C

Satara: 32.2°C / 21.1°C

Pune: 32.8°C / 20.4°C

These temperature shifts reflect the unpredictability typical of the pre-monsoon season, keeping both the public and disaster response authorities alert.

Nationwide, the IMD predicts thunderstorms, lightning, and sporadic rainfall in parts of East, South, and West India—including states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat—until May 14. Gujarat is also expected to witness gusty winds.

In Southern India, pre-monsoon showers are gaining strength. Rain accompanied by wind speeds of 50–60 km/h is forecast in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Puducherry through May 14. Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Puducherry may experience moderate rainfall on May 13 and 14.

Authorities urge citizens to stay informed through official weather updates and take necessary precautions as erratic weather continues to dominate the region.
