Pune : A shocking incident has come to light from Chakan MIDC, where a 27-year-old woman was dragged and raped while she was on her way to work. The accused also physically assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she spoke about the incident to anyone.
The accused, identified as Prakash Bhangre, was arrested by the Chakan police within 24 hours of the crime. The incident took place around 11 PM on the night of May 13. The woman, who works at a company in Chakan, was heading for her night shift and had nearly reached her workplace in Medankarwadi when the accused suddenly dragged her to a secluded area behind a nearby school.
There, he brutally raped and assaulted her. Despite her resistance — she even bit the accused — he managed to escape after the crime. The woman, in a distressed condition, managed to reach the Chakan Police Station with the help of nearby male and female workers and narrated her ordeal.
She is currently undergoing treatment at YCM Hospital. Based on her complaint, the police launched an intensive investigation and successfully apprehended the accused within a day using CCTV footage. According to the police, Bhangre is a resident of Medankarwadi but originally hails from Akole village in Ahmednagar district.
