Pune: Chain snatchers have once again unleashed their menace in Pune, with another incident reported involving the theft of a mangalsutra from an elderly woman during her morning walk. The incident occurred in Pune’s Karvenagar area and has been captured on CCTV footage.
Taking advantage of the early morning hours, the thief, who had been stalking the area, approached the woman on a two-wheeler and forcefully snatched her mangalsutra. Due to her age, the woman was unable to chase the thief. Similar incidents of chain snatching have recently surfaced in the Kothrud and Karvenagar areas.
In one such case, a woman walking in Kothrud had her mangalsutra snatched by a thief. In another alarming incident in Karvenagar, a thief entered a residential society and forcibly took an elderly woman’s gold chain.

An elderly woman out for her morning walk was targeted, and her mangalsutra was snatched. During the act, part of the chain broke and fell to the ground. The thief returned to pick up the broken piece before fleeing.
