Pune: Residents of House No. 15, Lane No. 2 in Sayyad Nagar, Mohamadwadi, are grappling with serious waterlogging issues as rainwater continues to flood their homes. What’s adding to their frustration is the alarming inaction from emergency response teams—multiple calls to the Wanawadi regional office have reportedly gone unanswered, leaving citizens stranded without help.
The Shiv Sena has strongly condemned this lack of responsiveness from civic officials and has called for immediate suspension of those failing in their emergency duties. Party leaders have warned that if their demand is ignored, they will launch a public protest and symbolically blacken the faces of the officials responsible for this negligence.
Party representatives expressed anger over the condition of the area, questioning how, despite significant expenditure on drainage chambers and monsoon preparedness, roads are still riddled with potholes, drainage lines remain blocked, and chambers are broken. Water accumulation in multiple locations suggests a lack of pre-monsoon planning.
“Why weren’t effective drainage systems installed in known flood-prone zones? Why wasn’t a proper survey conducted before the rains?” questioned a local leader.
Shiv Sena has also accused local authorities of catering to builders’ interests over residents’ welfare. They have demanded that the administration shift its focus back to the people and ensure such failures are not repeated. The party has vowed to escalate its agitation if urgent corrective action is not taken.
