Pune: In a major boost for rail passengers across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, Indian Railways has given the green light for two new superfast express trains aimed at improving regional connectivity and reducing travel time.
These new train services will greatly benefit commuters from Pune, Western Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. One of the trains will operate on the Rewa–Gondia–Pune route, while the other will connect Jabalpur, Gondia, and Raipur.
The approval comes after consistent efforts by Balaghat Member of Parliament Bharatiya Parthi, who had been advocating for better rail infrastructure and services in the region. Acting on the public demand, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently confirmed the launch of these new express services.
Train Routes and Benefits:
Rewa–Pune Superfast Express will follow the route:
Rewa – Satna – Jabalpur – Nainpur – Balaghat – Gondia – Nagpur – Pune
Jabalpur–Raipur Superfast Express will run via:
Jabalpur – Nainpur – Balaghat – Gondia – Raipur
These services are expected to significantly ease travel between the three states, providing faster and more direct rail options for passengers—especially those commuting between Pune and Gondia.
The exact schedule and commencement dates for these trains will be announced soon by the Railway Department.
