Pune: The power supply to Pirangut, Bhugaon, and surrounding areas was disrupted around 2 PM on Sunday after heavy rains washed away the embankment of an under-construction bridge, causing damage to the power lines. Due to the breakage of the 22 kV Sky-I power line at four different locations, electricity supply to nearly 20,000 consumers was affected.

The bridge construction in Pirangut is being carried out by MSRDC, and for this, an embankment was created. However, heavy rain on Sunday afternoon washed away the temporary fill, resulting in the power line snapping in multiple spots. Restoration work continued through the night until 2 AM, but continuous rain and water flow posed major challenges, forcing workers to temporarily halt operations. As the water levels receded on Monday morning, repair efforts resumed.

By Monday morning, power was partially restored to some consumers through alternative routes. However, there were intermittent disruptions during the process. By 11 AM, electricity was fully restored to Bhugaon via Ganeshkhind, benefiting nearly 8,000 customers. By 3 PM, Mahavitaran staff successfully reconnected all four damaged joints, restoring complete power supply through the Sky-I line.

A dedicated team, including Deputy Executive Engineer Anand Ghule from the Mulshi subdivision, Section Engineers Dampalwar, Nitin Dhas, and Manoj Kale, along with electricity staff from Bhugaon, Bhukum, and Khatpewadi, worked tirelessly to resolve the issue and restore electricity to the affected regions.
