Pune: On June 16, 2025, the Pune Division of Central Railway launched an intensive ticket checking campaign at Patas railway station, targeting unauthorized travel. This large-scale ambush operation was spearheaded by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Rajesh Kumar Verma, with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Anil Kumar Pathak and Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Hemant Kumar Behera overseeing the execution.
As part of the drive, 16 trains—7 on the Down line and 9 on the Up line—were briefly halted for five minutes each, enabling teams to carry out comprehensive ticket checks without disrupting the overall schedule. All coaches were thoroughly inspected, with immediate action taken against defaulters.
The task force included 1 officer (DCM), 1 supervisor (CTI HQ Pune), 28 ticket examiners, and 13 members of the Railway Protection Force, working in coordination to ensure smooth operations.
Key Outcomes of the Drive:
521 passengers were penalized for traveling without valid tickets, generating ₹1,86,015 in fines.
62 cases involved irregular tickets, resulting in ₹23,435 in penalties.
11 passengers were caught with unbooked luggage, paying fines totaling ₹1,930.
In total, 594 cases were identified and ₹2,11,380 was collected in fines. On average, each ticket examiner handled 21 cases and recovered ₹7,549 in penalties.
This rigorous operation reflects the Pune Division’s continued focus on curbing ticketless travel, enhancing railway revenues, and enforcing discipline across its network.
