Pune: The number of new Covid-19 infections is finally on the decline, with Pune reporting just 7 new cases and the overall state count dropping to 37. However, the rising number of deaths — now standing at 32 — remains a cause for concern.
Across Maharashtra, the total number of active Covid-19 cases is 324. Health officials noted that all current patients are exhibiting only mild symptoms. Mumbai continues to top the state’s list, with 942 cases, including recoveries.
According to the Public Health Department, most of the deceased patients had pre-existing health conditions. Details surrounding one additional patient’s case were not provided by officials.
The regional breakdown of deaths includes 19 from Mumbai, 7 from Pune, 2 each from Thane and Sangli, 1 each from Panvel and Akola, and 5 from Nagpur.
Despite the decrease in cases locally, officials have warned that infections are on the rise in other states and countries. They urged citizens to remain cautious and follow recommended safety protocols.
