Pimpri : Another instance highlighting the nexus between politicians and criminals has emerged in Maharashtra. A video showing Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker and Pimpri MLA Anna Bansode celebrating with notorious criminal Akash Mohol alias Akya Bond is currently going viral on social media. Akya Bond reportedly has 16 serious criminal cases registered against him.
The video clip shows Bansode and Akya Bond feeding cake to each other during a birthday celebration held on the occasion of Bansode’s birthday. Also seen in the video is Bansode’s son, Siddharth Bansode, standing beside them. Following the uproar on social media, the video and related photos were deleted from Siddharth’s account.
Recently, Bansode was felicitated in a public event by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. During the event, Pawar had publicly advised Bansode to be more mindful of his actions and statements now that he holds the position of Deputy Speaker. Pawar also hinted at the need to guide his son properly, saying, “Now that you are in a senior position, people are closely watching how you behave. You must act accordingly.”
Amid these warnings, the appearance of a criminal at Bansode’s birthday celebration has stirred controversy. In his defense, Anna Bansode said, “It was my birthday, and many people came to greet me with cakes and flower bouquets. I had no idea who they were. I can’t ask everyone who they are. I am a public representative, and I meet hundreds of people.”
