Pimpri Chinchwad: The Kalewadi Police have taken action against three individuals for allegedly operating a gambling racket in Rahatani. The arrests were made on Monday (February 17) in the afternoon.
The accused have been identified as Raju Baliram Tompe (41) from Kalewadi Phata, Babu George (50) from Rahatani, and Pramod Teji from Shivajinagar. A case has been registered against them following a complaint by Police Constable Dhanaji Shinde at Kalewadi Police Station.
As per police reports, Raju and Babu were found accepting bets from the public on a gambling scheme known as “Kalyan” and “Time Bazaar” while sitting on the footpath at Rahatani Phata. The collected numbers were then forwarded to Pramod. During the operation, authorities confiscated gambling-related materials valued at ₹20,440.
Kalewadi Police have launched a further investigation into the case.
