Mumbai: Former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has dismissed the allegations made by Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, as politically motivated, claiming that they are being raised ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. She alleged that similar accusations were made in the past, which faded away, and now fresh allegations have surfaced due to political reasons.
Satish Salian recently filed a petition in the Mumbai High Court, asserting that his daughter’s death was not a suicide or accident but a murder. He has also made serious allegations against Aaditya Thackeray and Kishori Pednekar, accusing them of influencing the case.
Responding to these claims, Pednekar stated, “Disha Salian’s father can make whatever allegations he wants. When the incident happened, I personally visited their home, and the media was present during my conversation with her parents. I even discussed their family business of making chutneys. This case has nothing to do with me. In fact, Satish Salian himself visited the Mayor’s bungalow and made requests to me. I believe he even submitted something in writing and called me multiple times.”
In his petition, Satish Salian has demanded a fresh investigation into the case, alleging that his daughter was raped and murdered. He further claimed that the case was suppressed due to pressure from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Kishori Pednekar. The petition accuses Mumbai Police and Pednekar of misleading the investigation and exerting pressure on the family. He also alleged that Pednekar placed him under house arrest and forced him to accept certain pieces of evidence as genuine.
These allegations have reignited political tensions, with Pednekar maintaining that she has no involvement in the case, while the court is set to examine the petition.
