Pimpri Chinchwad: A 67-year-old retired police officer fell victim to a financial scam at an ATM kiosk in Alandi, resulting in a loss of ₹29,200. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and a complaint was subsequently filed at the Alandi Police Station.
According to police reports, the victim was withdrawing cash at a Bank of Maharashtra ATM when an unidentified man, believed to be around 40 years old, approached him under the guise of offering assistance. Seizing the opportunity, the fraudster memorized the victim’s PIN and discreetly swapped his ATM card.
Shortly after the incident, the suspect used the swapped card to withdraw ₹29,200 from the senior citizen’s bank account.
The Alandi Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprit. Authorities have urged residents to be vigilant at ATMs and avoid accepting help from strangers while conducting transactions.
