Hubballi: In a shocking incident in Hubballi, Karnataka, a man ended his life, alleging constant harassment by his wife. The deceased, identified as Peter Gollapalli, took the extreme step on Sunday. Investigations by the police reveal that Peter had been under immense mental stress due to his wife’s alleged mistreatment.
Peter, who had been married to Phoebe, also known as Pinky, for two years, was living separately from her for the past three months due to ongoing domestic disputes. His family claims that the couple’s relationship soured over the last few months and that a divorce case was ongoing in court. According to Peter’s family, Pinky had demanded ₹20 lakh as compensation for the divorce, which added to Peter’s distress.
On Sunday around 12:30 p.m., Peter’s family returned home from church to find his lifeless body. In a note found at the scene, Peter wrote, “Father, forgive me. My wife Pinky has made my life unbearable. She wants me dead. Her harassment has forced me to take this step.”
Peter’s father, Obayya, also held Pinky responsible for his son’s tragic death. “My son was driven to this by her torment. He even mentioned this in his note. She would often leave our house and stay with her parents, telling my son she wouldn’t return even if he died. Her brother had demanded ₹20 lakh as a settlement for the divorce,” Obayya alleged.
Obayya further revealed that Pinky had once created a scene at Peter’s workplace, leading to a heated argument, which resulted in Peter losing his job.
Police have taken the suicide note into their custody and are investigating the case further.
