Pune: A resident of Magarpatta City was defrauded of ₹9.4 lakh after being lured with promises of a 15 percent profit on investments. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Shantanu Ramesh Kulkarni, fell prey to the scam between October and December 2024.
According to the complaint filed by Kulkarni, he was approached by individuals who convinced him to invest money with the assurance of significant returns. Trusting the proposal, he transferred the amount but later realized he had been deceived when no profits materialized.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against multiple mobile number holders and bank account holders involved in the scam. The case has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation is currently underway to trace the accused.
