Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch has successfully busted an illegal gas refilling operation in Chikhli, leading to the seizure of goods worth ₹8,32,500.
Four individuals were arrested in connection with the operation, including Shashikant Shankar Bhangre (43), Sagar Suryakant Mirgaji (26), Amar Mahadev Sathe (29), and Yogesh Gangadhar Gundale (19), all residents of Chikhli. The accused were reportedly carrying out gas refilling activities under the instructions of one Ajay Rajendra Jain, also from Chikhli.
According to Sandeep Doifode, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, the police had received a tip-off regarding the illegal activity at Pwar Wasti, Kudalwadi. Acting on the information, the police raided the site and discovered that gas was being illegally transferred from filled cylinders to empty ones using a nozzle.
During the operation, authorities seized 126 gas cylinders and two tempos, valued at ₹8,32,500. The raid was conducted by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal, Inspectors Abhinav Pawar and Bharat Gosavi, along with a team of police constables including Mahesh Khande, Ganesh Hing, Ashish Bankar, Nitin Lokhande, Somnath More, Vinod Veer, Sameer Raskar, Amar Kadam, Amol Gore, and Mohsin Attar.
The Chikhli Police are currently investigating the matter further.
