Beed: All eyes are on the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to see what decision will be taken regarding Maratha reservation by January 25. If no decision is made, we will begin another hunger strike from January 25, warned Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil. He further stated that if the absconding accused in the Deshmukh murder case are not arrested, the Maratha community will take to the streets.
Several accused in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Masajog village in Beed district, are still absconding. The entire family must get justice, and all accused should be arrested, Jarange asserted. While Valmik Karad has been arrested, Jarange mentioned that bigger names will be caught in the future. If the accused are not apprehended, we will take to the streets, he warned, expressing confidence that the police will not spare anyone involved.
When asked about Minister Dhananjay Munde’s alleged involvement, Jarange said the investigation is ongoing and whether he is connected or not will be revealed. He also warned that if anyone involved is let off, the Maratha community will enforce a Maharashtra bandh (shutdown).
Speaking about the Maratha reservation issue, Jarange said, “We are waiting for the decision from the Chief Minister by January 25. If no action is taken, we will begin an indefinite hunger strike again from January 25. Last time, the same situation occurred, only the faces in power have changed,” he remarked.
Addressing the death of Somnath Suryawanshi, Jarange said, “A young life has been lost. Without justice, there is no reason to feel satisfied.”
