PUNE — A major residential fire broke out around 12 noon today at Junawane Residency, located near the Gurudwara in Aundh village. The incident prompted an immediate response from the Aundh Fire Station.

Firefighters arrived to find a home engulfed in flames. Inside the residence, they discovered 38-year-old Dattatray Kisan Bhandalkar severely burned and still on fire. He was promptly rescued by fire personnel and transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. His condition is reported to be critical, according to early updates.

The blaze, which rapidly consumed the kitchen and bedroom areas, caused significant property damage. During the operation, firefighters successfully removed two gas cylinders from the premises, preventing a potential explosion. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been sparked by a gas leak from one of the domestic cylinders, which likely ignited and spread swiftly.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and full scope of the damage. However, early indications point to a gas leak as the probable origin of the fire.

This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of gas cylinder storage and usage in densely inhabited residential areas. Fire officials have urged residents to conduct regular checks on their gas connections and to report any signs of leakage without delay.

The prompt response from the fire department was critical in containing the blaze and preventing further casualties. As investigations proceed, more details about the extent of the damage and the condition of the injured man are awaited.

This tragic event underscores the vital importance of fire safety awareness and the need for rigorous household safety practices.
