Pune: A large amount of foam was observed in the Mula River flowing through Pimple Nilakh, raising serious environmental concerns. The foam formation is believed to be caused by untreated industrial waste released directly into the river by various companies, along with sewage discharge from multiple sources. These chemicals and wastewater not only create foam but also result in the death of aquatic life.
Despite crores of rupees being spent under the river improvement project, residents are questioning whether the river is actually improving. The local administration has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the benefits and effectiveness of the river improvement project.
Raviraj Kale of the Aam Aadmi Party visited the affected site and inspected the situation. He issued a warning to the administration, demanding an immediate solution to the pollution problem. He further cautioned that if corrective measures are not taken soon, strong protests will be launched in the near future.
