Mumbai: To reduce the increasing crowding in local trains, the state government is working on expanding transportation options. The government is actively working towards creating a metro network in Mumbai. In this regard, an important decision was taken recently to approve 19 tenders related to Mumbai Metro, amounting to ₹12,000 crore. The decision was taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who is also the chairman of MMRDA. MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee was also present at the meeting. Under his initiative, these 19 key contracts have been approved to strengthen infrastructure projects.

The approvals were given at the 284th executive committee meeting chaired by State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik. Additional Chief Secretary Aseem Kumar Gupta, BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, and MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee were also present. Contracts for several significant works including metro routes and Atal Setu were approved during this meeting.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the Maharashtra government is committed to creating infrastructure that not only meets current needs but also anticipates future demands. The ₹12,000 crore-plus investment approved by MMRDA is a significant step towards developing an integrated and inclusive transport system for Mumbai. This project will accelerate economic growth, improve urban mobility, and enhance the quality of life of the citizens.
