New Delhi : The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure a commanding 343 seats in the Lok Sabha if elections were held today, according to the latest India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey.
The survey, conducted between January 2 and February 9, 2025, highlights a dramatic shift in political fortunes, with the ruling coalition recovering from its 2024 setback and the opposition INDIA bloc facing a sharp decline. The survey underscores the BJP’s resurgence and the opposition’s dwindling momentum.
With Modi’s popularity intact and the NDA’s expanded footprint, the stage is set for another potential term of BJP-led governance—if elections were held today. The BJP alone is projected to win 281 seats, crossing the majority mark of 272 and securing a simple majority on its own—a feat it missed in 2024 when it won 240 seats. The NDA’s total tally of 343 seats marks a significant rise from its 2024 performance (292 seats), driven by recent state election victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Delhi, where the BJP consolidated power.
The Congress is expected to plummet to 78 seats, down from 99 in 2024, while the INDIA bloc’s collective tally would drop to 188 seats from 232. Internal strife and poor post-poll coordination among opposition parties are cited as key reasons for the bloc’s erosion.
The NDA’s vote share is projected at 46.9%, up from 44% in 2024, while the INDIA bloc’s share marginally rises to 40.6% but fails to translate into seat gains. The BJP’s individual vote share surges to 41%, overshadowing Congress’s 20%.Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains the top choice for PM, with 51% of respondents favoring him, compared to 24.9% for Rahul Gandhi. 50.7% of participants rated Modi as the “best-performing PM,” far ahead of Jawaharlal Nehru (5.2%)The NDA is set to rebound with 43–45 seats (up from 33 in 2024), reclaiming its stronghold after the Samajwadi Party’s 2024 surge.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s recent sweep of 237 out of 288 assembly seats has bolstered confidence in its Lok Sabha prospects.. The BJP is projected to retain all 7 Lok Sabha seats, continuing its dominance after winning 48 of 70 assembly seats in the 2025 state polls. The BJP’s aggressive campaigning and organizational strength helped recover ground lost during the 2024 polls, where its “400 paar” slogan backfired. The INDIA bloc’s infighting and inability to counter the BJP’s narrative on development and leadership have alienated voters
