Pune: In a move to improve passenger safety and health, Pune Division of Central Railway is set to operationalize Emergency Medical Rooms (EMRs) at both Ahmednagar and Miraj railway stations. These facilities aim to provide immediate medical assistance in emergencies, ensuring swift intervention, especially during critical health situations.
The EMR initiative is being executed under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Shri Rajesh Kumar Verma, with the support of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr. Milind Hirwe, and Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri Hemant Kumar Behera.
To ensure the project’s smooth implementation, space at these stations has been auctioned, and the contracts for running the EMRs have been awarded to the following parties: M/s Moraya Multi Speciality Hospital, Ahmednagar, for the Ahmednagar station, and M/s Sevasadan Lifeline Pvt Ltd, Sangli, for Miraj station. Both contracts are for a period of five years, generating a combined revenue of ₹1,90,999 per year for Indian Railways.
These EMRs, located at critical junctions, aim to address medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, and accidents, where timely medical intervention during the “Golden Hour” can greatly improve survival chances. Currently, such medical facilities are available only at Pune station through Ruby Hall Clinic.
Key Features of EMRs at Ahmednagar and Miraj Stations:
24/7 Availability: Both EMRs will be operational around the clock, ensuring uninterrupted medical care.
Pharmacy Services: A dedicated 100 sq ft area for pharmacies at both stations will ensure easy access to essential medicines.
Spacious Facilities: Each EMR will occupy 600 sq ft of space, providing adequate room for medical services.
Qualified Medical Personnel: The respective licensees will employ qualified medical professionals to run the facilities effectively.
Comprehensive Equipment: All necessary medical equipment will be provided to ensure thorough care.
Accessibility: The facilities will be available to both ticket-holding passengers and non-ticket-holding individuals.
Emergency Support: The EMRs will be equipped to handle emergencies on trains or at the stations, providing immediate aid.
These new EMRs reflect Pune Division, Central Railway’s dedication to improving passenger welfare by offering accessible, timely medical intervention. With these facilities, the division continues to enhance passenger safety and comfort, ensuring a swift response to health emergencies.
