Pune: In a decisive move to clamp down on rising criminal activity, Pune Police have invoked the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act against two notorious habitual offenders from the Sahkarnagar area. This strong legal action, approved by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, underscores the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards repeat offenders and criminal elements across the city.
The two individuals – Jayesh alias Jaydaya Dutta Dhaware (21), a resident of Galli No. 7, Taljai Colony, Padmavati, and Tushar alias Dembya Tiger Arane (19), from Galli No. 11, Taljai Mata Colony, Padmavati – have been active in Pune’s criminal circles since 2023. Their records include a series of violent crimes such as armed assaults, robbery, molestation, and public property destruction.
Jayesh Dhaware faces three serious charges, including illegal possession of weapons, causing bodily harm, and inciting violence. Similarly, Tushar Arane has also been booked in three major cases – including attempted murder, violating legal restraining orders, and sexual harassment. He also has a documented history of serious offences committed as a juvenile.
Despite prior preventive steps by law enforcement, both individuals continued their violent activities, spreading fear among local residents and discouraging them from lodging complaints. Given the growing public concern, Senior Police Inspector Rahul Gaud of Sahkarnagar Police Station proposed preventive detention of both offenders under the MPDA Act.
Following a detailed review, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar sanctioned the detention orders against the two offenders. On May 7, 2025, Jayesh Dhaware was directed to be transferred to Nagpur Central Jail, with the formal placement approved by the First Class Magistrate Court No. 4 in Shivajinagar. His official transfer order was subsequently issued from Yerwada Jail on May 9. Similarly, on May 13, 2025, Tushar Arane was ordered to be sent to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Central Jail, with his placement order finalized on May 14. Both individuals were shifted to their respective jails on May 17, 2025.
This operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil (Zone 2), and Assistant Commissioner Rahul Aware (Swargate Division). The execution team was led by Senior PI Rahul Gaud, with active support from PI (Crime) Surekha Chavan, PSI Sagar Patil, and police constables Vinayak Edk, Bhausaheb Aher, and Gorakh Daghe.
The Pune Police Department has reiterated its resolve to ensure public safety and maintain law and order. This robust action sends a stern warning to repeat offenders that continued criminal behaviour will be met with uncompromising legal consequences.
