Pune: Suspended Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Ranjit Kasle, who had been absconding in connection with an ongoing investigation, was taken into custody by Beed police from a hotel in Pune’s Swargate area early Friday morning. He had reportedly returned to Pune from Delhi just a day earlier and had publicly declared his intention to surrender to either the Pune or Beed police.
Prior to his arrest, Kasle made a series of explosive allegations through social media videos. He accused high-ranking officials and political figures of orchestrating a massive scam involving Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the assembly elections. Furthermore, he alleged that a planned encounter, in which he was asked to participate, was a staged operation.
Kasle claimed he was offered a bribe of ₹50 crore along with promises of safety and a luxurious lifestyle to carry out the alleged fake encounter. He insisted that such operations are typically masterminded by senior bureaucrats and politicians, with the support of local police forces.
While on the run, Kasle continued to post videos online, levelling serious accusations and demanding justice. His arrest brings a controversial chapter to a critical juncture, and further investigations are expected to uncover more details surrounding his claims.
