Pune: The Tarkeshwar Bridge, which links Bund Garden and Yerwada, has been shut for traffic from May 9 to May 11, 2025, due to ongoing repair work. A significant crack was recently discovered on one of the bridge’s expansion joints, prompting immediate action by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the city’s traffic department.
For the past few days, local commuters had raised safety concerns about crossing the bridge, urging authorities to take prompt action. In response, the PMC has begun repair operations, including the filling of damaged sections with concrete. Officials have stated that the concrete will take approximately three days to fully cure.
As a result, the bridge will remain inaccessible during this period, and motorists are advised to take alternative routes. The public notice was issued by Assistant Police Commissioner Subhash Nikam of Traffic Division-1, Pune City, who urged citizens to cooperate and follow the diversions for their safety.
