Pune : In a horrifying road accident on the Chakan–Ambethan Road, two teenage boys lost their lives after their bike was hit by a speeding container truck. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM on Friday near Birdawadi village.
The deceased have been identified as Sujay Dilip Kaduskar (17) and Soham Ulhas Kaduskar (17), both residents of Koregaon Budruk.
According to the FIR filed by Yogesh Vishnu Kad (35), a resident of Kiwale, Chakan Police have registered a case against the container driver Ganesh Vasudev Maikar (30), a resident of Salimba, Tal. Wadwani, Dist. Beed.
The two boys were reportedly riding a motorcycle towards Chakan for work-related purposes. When they reached near Pawar Vasti in Birdawadi village limits, the container driver, while attempting to overtake at high speed, crashed into the motorcycle, causing the young riders to fall.
In a devastating sequence of events, both Sujay and Soham were trapped under the wheels of the container and dragged for nearly 15 to 20 feet before the vehicle came to a halt.
Eyewitnesses and the complainant, Yogesh Kad, shouted to alert the driver to stop, but he reportedly did not respond immediately. It was only after bystanders intervened that the truck was finally brought to a stop.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital in Chakan, but unfortunately, they were declared dead before any medical treatment could begin.
Based on the complaint, Chakan Police have booked the driver under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving leading to death. An investigation is currently underway.
This tragic incident has once again highlighted the need for stricter enforcement of road safety norms on highways and industrial corridors like the Chakan-Ambethan stretch, where high-speed container movement is common.
