Pune: In a major step toward boosting regional connectivity, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently inaugurated a crucial new ramp that connects Pimpri-Chinchwad Link Road to the Chikhali–Kalewadi Phata BRT corridor via the Mother Teresa Flyover.

This upgrade follows the successful opening of another important link near the Auto Cluster, further enhancing traffic movement across this busy route and making daily commutes much smoother.

With the newly launched ramp, commuters can now directly access Chinchwad Station, Chikhali, Kalewadi, and Wakad without congestion. This will help decongest major thoroughfares and reduce travel times for thousands of daily commuters. The Chikhali–Kalewadi BRT corridor is already well integrated with the Dehu–Alandi Road, Spine Road, Telco Road, Old Mumbai–Pune Highway, and other vital routes, facilitating seamless citywide transit.

Looking ahead, several infrastructure projects will continue to improve connectivity across the region. Plans are underway to widen the road from Kudalwadi Chowk to Chikhali, and a signal-free, high-speed corridor will soon be developed between Chikhali and Wakad. Moreover, the PMRDA is backing a 9-km stretch from Chikhali to Moi, Nighoje, and Kharabwadi, including a six-lane bridge across the Indrayani River.

These initiatives will bolster links between PCMC and Pune’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads, as well as the Talegaon–Chakan MIDC belt — creating new opportunities for growth and significantly improving travel efficiency across the region.
