Pune: In a shocking incident that occurred a year ago in the Ambegaon Khurd area of Pune, a woman allegedly killed her husband who repeatedly assaulted her over suspicions about her character. The crime, which had gone unnoticed for nearly a year, came to light after a forensic report confirmed the cause of death. Police have now arrested the accused wife.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Ajentrao (23), a resident of Chindhenagar, Jambhulwadi. A case of murder has been registered against his wife, Vrushali Ajentrao (23), following a complaint lodged by Police Sub-Inspector Mohan Kalamkar.
According to police sources, Abhishek worked in a private company and had previously been arrested in an attempt to murder case. After being released from jail last year, he allegedly began harassing and physically assaulting Vrushali, accusing her of infidelity. Vrushali, who also works in a private company, was reportedly repeatedly subjected to violence.
On July 10, 2024, following yet another episode of assault, Vrushali reportedly struck Abhishek on the head with a hard object and beat him severely, leading to his death. The incident was initially treated as an accidental death, with Vrushali claiming that Abhishek had fallen and sustained injuries. A post-mortem report could not determine the cause of death at the time, prompting doctors to preserve the viscera for further analysis.
After the Ambegaon Police Station was established, the case was transferred to their jurisdiction. A recent viscera report confirmed that Abhishek died due to injuries inflicted during the assault. Upon further interrogation, Vrushali confessed to the crime. She was subsequently arrested and presented before the court, which remanded her to five days of police custody. Assistant Police Inspector Bhojling Dodmise is currently investigating the case.
