In a deeply disturbing incident from Pune, a 20-year-old youth ended his life by jumping from the sixth floor of a building after uploading a suicide video on Instagram, in which he named his two maternal cousins as the reason for taking the extreme step. The deceased has been identified as Tejas Bajirao Sonagre, a resident of Vitthalwadi, Dehugaon.
In the video, Tejas said, “Friends, this is my suicide video. Please make it viral.” He accused his cousins, Nilesh alias Golu Sanjay Punde (25) and Mangesh Sanjay Punde (23), both residents of Talawade, of subjecting him to constant mental harassment, which pushed him towards suicide. Following the release of the video, the police arrested both accused.
The incident occurred around 10 PM on February 12 at Hinjewadi Phase 2, where Tejas was employed at a private company. However, the case came to light during the police investigation nearly two months later. In his video, Tejas claimed he was being mentally tortured at home and questioned why anyone had the right to interfere in his finances, including how much he earned or saved. He explicitly named his two cousins as the ones responsible for his mental agony.
Tejas had lost both his parents and was raised by his maternal uncle. He was known to be an introvert and lived a quiet life. His final message, uploaded to Instagram, ends with a desperate plea: “The more this video goes viral, the better. This is my suicide video. The only reason is the mental harassment I’ve been facing at home… The main reason are my two cousins – Nilesh Punde and Mangesh Punde.”
The video has led to widespread shock on social media and among mental health advocates, once again raising serious questions about domestic mental abuse and the urgent need for emotional support systems.
