Pune: A major safety scare unfolded on Monday afternoon when a large hoarding came crashing down on Pune’s Dhanori-Porwal Road, an area under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties, but the incident has sparked significant concern among local residents about the increasing number of such structures in the area.

As per the information provided, there were no injuries reported. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, secured the area, and prevented further risk to the public. According to eyewitnesses, vehicles and pedestrians had passed by the spot just seconds before the hoarding collapsed. Residents say a slight delay in response or a few seconds’ difference could have led to a serious disaster.

The incident has triggered outrage within the community, with residents demanding accountability and stricter enforcement against unauthorized hoardings. There is growing pressure on PMC to take decisive action against those responsible and to tighten regulations to prevent similar accidents.

In the immediate aftermath, PMC officials visited the site and began an investigation to determine which agency installed the hoarding and whether the required permissions had been obtained. The collapse has renewed citywide concerns over the proliferation of unsafe or unregulated hoardings, with citizens urging urgent reforms and better oversight to safeguard public spaces.
