Pune: Congress leader and MLA Ravindra Dhangekar is likely to switch allegiance to the Eknath Shinde-led faction, marking a significant political shift.
Dhangekar cited the challenges of working without being in power as the primary reason for his decision. “Without power, it is difficult to get work done. Hence, I have taken this tough decision,” he said.
The MLA recently met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Minister Uday Samant to discuss his future course. Dhangekar emphasized that he would finalize his decision after consulting with his supporters.
“I have no personal expectations; I just want to work for the people,” he said. Dhangekar is scheduled to meet CM Shinde at 7 PM today, with an official announcement regarding his party switch expected thereafter.
Expressing gratitude towards his former party, Dhangekar added, “I am thankful to the Congress for the love and opportunities it has given me.”
His potential move is expected to significantly impact Pune’s political landscape, especially with upcoming elections on the horizon.
